The
long form marriage certificate is actually a restricted
and certified photographic copy of the original marriage
registration, it is available to the bride or groom
or to another person upon written consent from either
the bride or the groom. The
long form marriage certificate may contain the following
information of both the bride and groom:

trade
or profession
marital
status
age
religious
denomination
residence
place of birth
full
name of parents
birthplace
of parents

How
to Order a Certificate
In
order to obtain a certificate you may contact our office,
by Canadian Post mail, or you can drop off an application
at any N.S. Registry of Motor Vehicle office to be processed
through the mail.
Paying
for a Certificate
Please
pay for your certificates by cheque or by money order made
payable to the "Deputy Registrar General." Cash payment
is acceptable at our office in person through our counter
service; however, we do not advise you to send cash in the
mail. We now accept payment at our counter service through
Interac Direct Payment. We currently do not accept Credit
Cards as a means of payment.
Searches
All
certificate prices include a three-year search, a three-year
search may be requested without a certificate (confirmation
of event only) for $5.00. The search fee for genealogy is
$15.00 for the first-three year period and $10.00 for any
three-year period thereafter.
Restrictions
Release
of all long form certificates are subject to restrictions
as set out in the Vital Statistics Act.
Certificates
are issued in accordance with information on file and cannot
be returned for refund.
